Key Responsibilities Database Administration •Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases. •Manage full lifecycle DB operations: provisioning → tuning → maintenance → decommissioning. High Availability, Replication & DR •Administer AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Replication (for SQL Server). •Configure PostgreSQL replication methods (streaming replication, logical replication). •Implement and maintain DR processes, including failover and recovery procedures. •Perform periodic DR testing. Upgrades, Patching & Security •Perform DB version upgrades and major/minor migrations. •Apply security patches, cumulative updates, and functional patches. •Ensure compliance with security and audit standards. Performance & Optimization •Troubleshoot blocking, deadlocks, slow queries, and resource bottlenecks. •Use Query Analyzer, pgAdmin, and monitoring tools for tuning. •Tune indexes, queries, memory, and storage layers for performance and resilience. Backup & Recovery •Implement and manage native and tool based backup strategies (SQL native backups, pgBackRest, Barman etc.). •Validate restore and recovery processes. Project Coordination & Support •Work closely with development, functional, and technical teams for issue debugging. •Support code releases, DB deployments, and environment refreshes. ITSM Experience •Experience in Change, Incident, and Release Management. Cloud Skills •Understanding of cloud database services on Oracle Cloud, Azure SQL, and GCP Cloud SQL. Required Skills •7+ years of hands on SQL Server & PostgreSQL DBA experience. •Strong experience with HA/DR, replication, backup & restore. •Deep understanding of Linux and Windows server environments. •Experience tuning performance at both engine and query levels. •Knowledge of cloud-based DB offerings. •Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills. |
